MACLEANUP FOR MAC

The same sections, in a window.

The app runs the macleanup script on your Mac. It adds a disk gauge that counts snapshot-held space, a dry-run ledger you can read path by path, and a receipt for every run.

The first time you open it

  2. If macOS will not open itmacleanup is not signed with an Apple developer certificate yet. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway. You do this once.

What the window adds.

Every section, profile and safety rule is the same as the command line. The app makes each step visible.

01

A disk gauge that tells the truth

Used, purgeable, snapshot-held and free, so you can see why deleting files does not always free space.

02

A ledger before every run

Every path and size. Rows that may be the only copy get keep, archive or delete.

03

A receipt after every run

Attempted, completed, skipped and failed, counted separately, with before and after free space.

04

Apps and their leftovers

Bundles, support folders, containers and helpers, with protected items explained.

05

Both launch domains

Your account's agents and the system's daemons and root Homebrew services, side by side.

06

Nothing leaves your Mac

No analytics. Signed in, only run numbers sync; file paths never do.

Prefer the command line?

Nothing changes for npx macleanup. The app and the command share one history in ~/.macleanup/.
